Somatic Therapy

What is somatic therapy?

Somatic psychotherapy is an approach to healing that focuses on gently exploring and strengthening the relationship between a client’s mind and body. This type of therapy goes beyond the insight gained from talk therapy, and helps people to make deep and lasting changes by addressing patterns in the nervous system through experiential exercises.

How does somatic therapy work?

Many people come to therapy feeling numb, disconnected, or overwhelmed by their bodies. This is especially true for people who experience trauma, marginalization, and chronic stress. By integrating somatic inquiry and experiential practices such as breathwork, movement, voicing, meditation, and self-touch into the therapy process, clients often find themselves more grounded, present, expressive, and aware of what they want and need in their every day lives.

How do I get started?

I offer telehealth and in-person somatic therapy to adult individuals, couples, and multi-person relationships. For clients across New York, Pennsylvania, and Connecticut, therapy is available via a secure online video platform. For those located near New Haven County, in-person appointments are available at my office.
